My heart’s grieved and longing
For a kingdom that’s dawning
In a world of already, not-yet
But I’m frustrated in waiting
With the Church’s flag-waving
While their leaders play Russian roulette
Little girls are still shrinking
We’re in the bottom of the inning
And we need to level the field
But we’re too concerned with raising
The bar for our praising
So, we settle for plastic, not real
Do you see the tide is rising?
Lifting the lowly and yet capsizing
Vessels of injustice are breaking in two
For those churches stonewalling
Too concerned with performing
They’ll miss what God’s about to do
“Go home!” they keep saying
But we are steadfast in waiting
Our vindication comes from the Lord
We’ll sit, we’ll walk
We’ll stand where we’re called
Opting for plowshares more than the sword
We won’t be found navel-gazing
Raising funds for what’s fading
When souls are on the line
In one accord, we’ll be raising
Our voices loudly praising
For we are found equal in Christ
